Visiting a new dentist can come with plenty of questions. What will happen at the first appointment? Will you need X-rays? What if it’s been a long time since your last check-up?
At Champion Family Dental, our goal is to make your first visit feel comfortable, straightforward and centred around you. Whether you’re coming in for a routine check-up, have a particular concern or haven’t visited a dentist for several years, you’re welcome here.
Getting to Know You
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know you, not just your teeth.
When you arrive, our friendly team will welcome you and ask you to complete some new patient information. When you meet your dentist, we’ll take the time to discuss your dental and medical history, any concerns you have and what you would like to achieve with your smile.
Perhaps you have a tooth that’s been bothering you, you’re interested in improving the appearance of your smile or you simply want to stay on top of your oral health. Whatever brings you in, this is your chance to ask questions and let us know what matters to you.
And if you’re nervous about being at the dentist, please tell us. We’d much rather know so we can take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
A Thorough Look at Your Oral Health
Your first check-up generally includes an assessment of your teeth and gums, as well as the soft tissues of your mouth, jaw muscles and jaw joints.
Your dentist may also recommend X-rays where appropriate. These can help us see areas that aren’t easily visible during a standard examination and give us a clearer picture of your overall dental health. A deep clean may also be included as part of your visit.
We’ll Explain What We Find
We believe you should understand what’s happening with your own oral health.
If we identify something that may need attention, your dentist will talk you through it and explain the available options in clear, straightforward language. We’ll answer your questions and help you understand the recommendations before deciding on the next step.
Every smile is different, so any treatment recommendations will be tailored to your individual needs, priorities and oral health goals.
What If It’s Been Years Since I’ve Seen a Dentist?
You’re certainly not the only one.
People put off dental visits for all sorts of reasons, from busy schedules and cost concerns to a previous negative experience or dental anxiety. Whatever the reason, there’s no need to feel embarrassed.
Our focus is on where your oral health is today and what we can do to help you look after it moving forward.
Sometimes the hardest part is simply booking that first appointment.
Ready for Your First Visit?
Whether you’re new to the area, looking for a new family dentist or simply ready to get back on track with your dental health, we’d love to welcome you.
